| it's so nice to be back, without thinking, "okay, i only have a short amount of time here. how much time do i have left to see everyone i want to see?" but i am sick. i haven't been social, at all, really because i've been under the weather and just trying to relax and/or sleep when i'm not working. i started back at starbucks yesterday. i was really scared at first, but i'm remembering a lot more than i expected. but one of the shifts, today, was treating me like an idiot. i really didn't enjoy that. but i am not mad. i just hope i get to work with the other shifts more before i work with him again. there are things that have changed of which nobody informed me. i'm having to learn as i go along. so it's a valuable learning experience! callie's wedding is tonight. how exciting that it's in a small, white chapel in cocoa village!! it should be quite delightful, i think. i'm looking forward to it. much love. and i mean that.

| so i have been spending a lot of time with some amazing people the past couple of weeks. they're soul-refreshing. and i'm so glad i've gotten to know them! i hung out with some people from my math class thursday evening after our exam, and we just had wonderful conversations...and i got to eat a rainbow roll, so that was the best! before the math exam on thursday, i had my voice juries, or final, if you will. what happens is we do a 90-second cut of a monologue and song; then we choose another song to perform for them ("them" is three voice teachers; one being my teacher, another the director of the program; the third is any other voice teacher on faculty). it went SO well! i got an A. that's probably the first time i've gotten an A in a jury since my freshman year. haha. but it really did go well. the students outside of the room were appluading me when i walked out because they could hear me. hahahaha. it was really fun. friday, we had a gathering called, "paige-a-palooza." paige is the name of a girl in our program, who is awesome! it wasn't her birthday. we were just celebrating the fact that we love her so much because she's so sweet but fun and funny. it was a BLAST! yesterday, i had a friend come over who made greenbean casserole and chocolate fondue! it was sooo good!!! taylor, whitney, and myself...we dined together. after that, taylor stayed and paige (as in paige-a-palooza), brittany simmons, and stephanie b came over and we watched a really stupid movie. it was really nice. OH YEAH! and i spent about 4.5 hours, hardcore cleaning my apartment yestreday. it was such a relief. i cleaned last week, but not as intense as yesterday. mandy is on a retreat, so it's just been jackson and me watching over the place this weekend. : ) i get to go home in two days!!! yeah-hoo! *mal | | |
| so the directors of guys and dolls called me this morning and asked me to come to the office to talk to them. fortunately, i was able to meet their request. laura scogg (the director and casting director) told me that she and mrs halbert had been talking about casting for a few days, and something of which she (laura scogg) was not aware is that emily fitzpatrick (the other girl up for the part) was a graduating senior, and had never had a real lead in a show, but that it is very important for everyone to at least get the experience of one lead. and i completely agree!! sooo...since emily is playing, "mimi/hottbox dancer," and the principal dancer in the havana scene, emily and i will be learning each other's parts. i'll be playing two shows as each, and so will emily, which is VERY exciting! i get to dance in the havana scene!! it will be such a wonderful challenge! now, this does mean that there will have to be a fourth show, which will be on thursday, april 12. mrs halbert told me that they'll inform me about which nights i'll be playing adelaide next month, at the beginning of the semester. this is extremely exciting. i really wanted emily to get the chance to play the part, and now she gets to. : ) !!!!!!YAYYYYYY!!!!!! | | |
| here are the dates for those of you interested in seeing the show:
april 13-15!! i'm SO EXCITED!!!!
i love you. | | |
| so i auditioned for the part of miss adelaide because after seeing the movie this past week, i decided that miss adelaide's part would be SO much fun for me. i really didn't have my heart set on it, though. i'm a very new student; a really amazing senior girl was auditioning for the part too; it's one of only two female leads; there are LOTS of very talented females in our program; i'm a dancer, and dancers are needed as hottbox girls. so we all audition, and it was SO fun! then callbacks were announced. first female callback announced: the really good senior i mentioned above. second: mallory gleason. we were the only two called back for that role. callbacks: they went REALLY well!! she and i both played adelaide COMPLETELY different. so i had no idea what to think, except i did realize that she was great; i did well; she's a senior, and i'm a junior. so the cast list went up. i looked for emily's name. i didn't see it. but i didn't see mine either. so i scrolled down about half-way down the page to find,"miss adelaide." i carefully moved my eyes over to see whose name was next to the role.... (drum roll..............) i guess you will have to wait until you call me to see whose name it was! haha! just kidding with ya! i got the part!!!!!!! i'm SO excited!! SO excited!! but i do have class now. i LOVE you all!!!! thank you so much for your constant support and encouragement! it's all really paying off! | | |
